Many people were wondering why Alicia Keys chose to perform Fallin’ at last night’s BET
Minstrel Award Show. Answer: to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of her debut album, “Songs in A Minor,” which Fallin’ was the debut single that launched her career.
The celebration will continue tomorrow in Times Square as they unveil her wax figure at Madame Tussauds NY as part of the Spirit of New York exhibit:
Fourteen-time Grammy award-winning songstress Alicia Keys is the newest celebrity to be immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds New York. Keys is currently celebrating the 10th Anniversary of her groundbreaking debut album ‘Songs in A Minor’ by releasing a special deluxe and collector’s edition of the album on June 28. That same day, the New York City native and “Empire State of Mind” singer will pose side-by-side and unveil for the first time her new wax figure at the famed Times Square attraction…
An eager participant in the creation of her wax figure, Keys spent more than three hours with a team of Madame Tussauds studio artists who took hundreds of precise measurements and photos and worked over three months to ensure the figure fully captured her unique style, exact eye color, posture, and overall image.
Keys’ wax figure will be dressed in the custom-designed black leather jumpsuit and matching motorcycle jacket that she wore in the smash hit “Empire State of Mind” music video, and donated to the attraction. She will stand in a striking pose with one hand in the air and the other leaning on a grand piano decorated with New York cityscapes and imagery, identical to the one in the music video.
